Shaykh Zahir Bacchus
Co-Founder and Executive Director

Shaykh Zahir is the Co-Founder and Executive Director at Lote Tree Foundation. He also serves as the Director of Professional Development at Razi, a leader in educational consultancy. At Lote Tree, Shaykh Zahir is responsible for setting the overall strategic direction of the organization. He serves as Imam of the musalla and plays an active role in teaching, counselling, and curriculum design.

With over 15 years of experience in teaching, counselling, and training, Shaykh Zahir has designed and taught programs at educational institutions across the world, and has worked extensively on curriculum development and professional development for Islamic Schools in North America and the Middle East. His professional experiences have included teaching specialized courses to lawyers at the UN High Commission for Refugees, and advising the Ministry of Health in Ontario on palliative care from an Islamic perspective.

Shaykh Zahir’s extensive education in the Islamic sciences includes over eight years of study with the premier scholars of Damascus. Shaykh Zahir holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Zoology from the University of Toronto, and is a graduate of the Arabic program at the University of Damascus.

Saeed Shaikh, BASc.
Co-founder and Executive Director

Saeed is a Co-Founder and Executive Director at Lote Tree. Saeed has helped establish a number of Islamic centres in the Greater Toronto Area, and has served on their boards. At Lote Tree, Saeed is responsible for setting the overall operational direction of the organization, including overseeing organizational structure, facility management, and finances.

Saeed possesses over 20 years of experience as a technology professional. He is an independent software consultant, and has held past positions at PeopleSoft Canada and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Saeed specializes in managing and executing PeopleSoft Upgrades, and has completed over 25 of them. He holds an Engineering degree from the University of Toronto, with a minor in Business and Entrepreneurship.

Azhar Mohammad
Managing Director, Asset and Portfolio Management

Azhar is a Managing Director at Lote Tree and is responsible for the oversight and construction/development of the Community and Youth Centre.  He is also a Partner of one of Canada’s largest development projects in recent years funded by Kuwait and UAE investors. He is a founding director of Emirates Consulting Canada, a company that has performed investment diligence on behalf of clients such as the UAE Government, Higher Colleges of Training in Abu Dhabi, Dubai Islamic Bank, and TII Kuwait.

Azhar’s focus has been on strategic education and technology based investment and currently leads over 100 engineers, planners, and construction specialists in the development of a $400 million multi-use sports facility in Southern Ontario.

Mohammed Naseer Faridy
Executive Director, Strategic Relations and Operations

Naseer serves as an Executive Director at Lote Tree, and is responsible for managing strategic relationships and operations.

Naseer has over 15 years of entrepreneurial and professional experience across a variety of industries including software and telecommunications. In 2010, Naseer founded Shura Management, an organization that provides strategic consulting services based on the ethical guidelines of Islam. Naseer is currently leading a team of software developers to design innovative technology solutions for the procurement industry. In addition to his professional work, Naseer has received specialized training at Harvard Law School.

Ikramuddin Syed, MD CCFP
Managing Director, Strategic Relations and Fundraising

Dr. Ikramuddin is a Managing Director at Lote Tree and is responsible for managing strategic relationships and fundraising. He also serves as an Executive Board Member for the Light of Mercy project for New Muslims, and is a co-founder of Aafiya, an NGO committed to providing medical aid to those in need.

Dr. Ikramuddin practices family and urgent care medicine in the Greater Toronto Area. He is a graduate of UNIBE Medical School, located in the Dominican Republic, and completed his training in Family and Rural Medicine from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. Since completing medical school, Dr. Ikramuddin has been regularly involved in relief work in places such as Pakistan, Haiti, Indonesia and Somalia. As part of his relief work, Dr. Ikramuddin has provided emergency medical aid and helped in establishing medical clinics, orphanages, and elementary schools worldwide.

Shakir Shaikh, BASc.
Managing Director, Asset and Portfolio Management

Shakir serves as a Managing Director at Lote Tree and is responsible for asset and portfolio management.

Shakir is an independent software consultant with over 15 years of experience as a technology professional. He is a PeopleSoft Triple Certified Financials, Supply Chain and Technology expert, and has worked on numerous implementation projects across a variety of industries. Shakir holds an Engineering degree from the University of Toronto.

Saif Syed, P.Eng.
Executive Director, Treasurer

Saif serves as the Treasurer and is responsible for Lote Tree finances.

Saif has over 15 years of experience as an engineer, holding positions at various companies in the Greater Toronto Area. He is currently a Software Architect at the Nielsen Company. Saif holds a Bachelors of Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, from the University of Waterloo.
